During the celebration of Holy Week in Central America from April 11 to 17, 2022, employee

remuneration is as follows:

  • I) Guatemala: Thursday through Saturday, April 14-16 are mandatory payment days. An employer must pay an employee who works on any of the three days 50% more than the ordinary daily salary.
  • II) Honduras and El Salvador: Thursday through Saturday, April 14-16 are mandatory payment days. An employer must pay an employee who works on any of the three days twice the daily salary (“double-time”).
  • III) Nicaragua and Costa Rica: Only Thursday, April 14, and Friday, April 15 are mandatory payment days. An employer must pay double-time to an employee who works on either day.

In all countries, the indicated days of compulsory payment apply regardless of the payment method (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly).
