A draft law was recently presented before the Legislature under file N.º 21.941 that adds a transitory amendment to article 148 bis of the Labor Code to reschedule the enjoyment of all holidays to Fridays during the years 2020 and 2021, to promote internal tourism given the consequences of COVID-19.
¿How would this work?
Any holiday that falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, or Sunday will become a normal workday with the celebration of the day rescheduled to Friday of that same week, thus generating a long weekend intended to promote internal tourism. This measure will only apply during the years 2020 and 2021. At present, the proposal is published as draft legislation pending its discussion in the Legislature to determine its approval, as well as its application following the lifting of sanitary measures within the country.
