The United Nations Human Rights Council established the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in 2011. Since then, there has been an in-depth analysis of the role of companies as instruments of society that perform specific functions, but that must comply with the laws and regulations of the countries where they conduct commercial activity. In addition to complying with legal requirements, these principles guide companies in fulfilling their responsibility to protect human rights within their organizations and externally, in relation to any person or context with which they relate.
BLP has established a Human Rights, Business and Development law practice that, based on these principles, as well as the Guide of the International Bar Association (IBA), presents its clients with the possibility of examining procedures, business policies, and management decisions from the perspective of the international protection of human rights.
