During the term of the State of National Emergency, the Costa Rica´s Customs Directorate authorized the documentary and physical verification of the documents and merchandise with copies, impressions or simple photocopies of the documents required by each regime and modality.


The Auxiliaries of the Customs Public Function, importers and exporters, as indicated by law, must keep and preserve the original documentation once they receive it.

Post Control:

The Risk Management Directorate and the Inspection Directorate of the Costa Rica´s Customs Directorate, once the national emergency is over, within the framework of their competences, they will carry out the subsequent review, in accordance with the risk criteria that are determined and will proceed with the verification of the original documents and other relevant control aspects.
