The Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Health have issued a regulation, which is currently under public consultation, to authorize the entry into the free zone regime of products of sanitary interest or their raw materials without the need to process a sanitary registration or notification when such products meet the following conditions.
- Products of sanitary interest or their raw materials must be used in the production, transformation, and service processes of the free zones, that is, they must be consistent with their authorized activity.
- Products of sanitary interest or their raw materials must be intended for re-exportation or export.
Products of sanitary interest or their raw materials that are imported, marketed, distributed, used, or consumed in the national territory, must have a sanitary registration, notification, or authorization granted by the Ministry of Health.
The regulation provides that the request for the internment of products of sanitary interest or their raw materials will be made through the VUCECR platform at the link www.vuce.cr, filling out the electronic FAD (Authorization Form for Storage Release).
