We inform you that, due to new presidential provisions in the event of public calamity and orders for strict compliance, published on March 29, 2020 in the Diario de Centroamérica, provisions of March 16 – 21, 2020 are repealed. Therefore, it is determined that all air, land and sea borders throughout the national territory are closed, so the entry of foreign people through any of our borders is also prohibited.

a. An exception will be made to enter Guatemalan territory in the following cases:

  • Guatemalans
  • Permanent residents
  • For belonging to the diplomatic corps accredited in the country
  • Exceptional cases determined by the Guatemalan Migration Institute, approved and supervised by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance and coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior.

In any of the exceptional cases, upon entering the country they must immediately undergo the mandatory quarantine.

b. An exception will be made for the exit from Guatemalan territory to all foreigners, under their strict responsibility, they may leave through the borders of the states that they authorize in their regulations.
