Approximately 50 companies and organizations have committed themselves to the Declaration of San José: 10 principles against discrimination because of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression, and in favor of the promotion of the Human Rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) persons, in an initiative promoted by the Business Alliance for Development (AED) and the Pride Connection CR, with the support of the Presidential LGBTI Commissioner of Costa Rica.
The Declaration’s 10 principles seek from companies and organizations the promotion of inclusive workplaces and respect for the Human Rights of LGBTI persons in all actions related to policies, procedures, customer service and training, and advertising and marketing, among others.
BLP is not only a signatory to the Declaration for a second time but is also the only law firm in the country to sign, representing another step in our commitment to sustainable development and the protection of human rights.
Likewise, since 2017, we have maintained a Commission for the Labor Integration of LGTBI people that promotes non-discrimination and full labor inclusion. This commission encourages measures by which all sectors of the firm respect and promote the human rights.
BLP´s work on this field, has earned us the recognition as the leading law firm in inclusion and diversity in Central America, been awarded in 2019 as the “Most Inclusive Firm for LGBT + Lawyers” award, which celebrates BLP’s commitment to increase opportunities and the representation of lawyers who are part of the LGBT + community.
