BLP is honored as Pro Bono Leading Light 2024 by Latin Lawyer

We are excited to announce that BLP has once again been recognized in Latin Lawyer’s prestigious Leading Lights 2024 list, underscoring our steadfast commitment to fostering a robust pro bono culture across Central America. Latin Lawyer acknowledges law firms that have made significant strides in advancing pro bono initiatives, and BLP is proud to be among the distinguished firms featured.  The selection process for this esteemed recognition involved a thorough assessment of various factors, including our responses to a comprehensive survey on the institutionalization of pro bono practices, detailed reports on our pro bono work, and recent examples of impactful cases. Feedback from bar associations and the Vance Center, alongside an evaluation of the progression of our pro bono practices based on previous surveys, contributed to our inclusion.   Some concrete examples of BLP’s dedication, include: 

• Broad Impact: BLP has extended pro bono services to over 100 NGOs, serving as a catalyst for positive change throughout the region.   

• Gender Equality: A notable achievement is that 33% of our partners are women, and we take pride in maintaining a zero gender pay gap at BLP, reflecting our commitment to equality and diversity.   

• Pioneering Initiatives: BLP is the first Central American firm to sign the Vance Center’s pro bono declaration, showcasing our pioneering spirit in advancing pro bono causes.   

• Educational Advocacy: In collaboration with our pro bono partners, we held more than 50 legal talks last year, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and empowering the community.   

• Dedicated Hours: Our team’s commitment is reflected in the over 4,000 pro bono hours invested this year, equivalent to an estimated value of $418,804, a testament to our dedication to creating a positive impact.
