Five years ago, the BLP law firm completed its regionalization process by arriving in Guatemala with a multidisciplinary team committed to the firm’s vision: to become true business partners of its clients.

BLP’s success story began in 2003 in Costa Rica. The regionalization process of the firm began in 2014 with offices in Nicaragua and El Salvador, and a year later, in Honduras. Guatemala was BLP’s last stop in its regional expansion campaign, launching our presence in the country by hiring three partners and 10 associates at that time. Today our Guatemala office has a multidisciplinary team of more than 60 professionals focused on creating value for our clients.

The Guatemala office has long had an excellent corporate and M&A legal practice, with an established client base and network of contacts. The office actively participates in important banking and financial transactions, as well as in capital markets and arbitration work. The Intellectual Property practice enjoys great prestige and extensive experience in handling pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and agrochemical patent matters, among others.

The Guatemala office’s comprehensive approach to the provision of legal services, its strong presence in border transactional work, the high reputation of its Partners in the region, added to its horizontal structure and attractive work environment for lawyers, have allowed BLP to expand rapidly and become a market leader.

Led by our founding partners in Guatemala, María Inés Arenales, Luis F. Ruiz, and Rodolfo Salazar, BLP completed its regionalization process in 2017. On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of starting operations, the founding partners commented: “Today we want to remember the commitment we made 5 years ago with our clients: to offer them our top-quality advice with which, hand in hand supplying innovation, technology and human warmth we can go beyond the typical role of the lawyer, to provide client businesses with true value.”

On the occasion of our fifth anniversary in Guatemala, we want to THANK all our clients and friends for their repeated trust in our innovative solutions, which enables us to be at the forefront of the legal industry in Central America.

Recognized by the main legal directories of the world as the leading law firm in the region, BLP is the law firm to do business in Central America, with more than 150 lawyers, providing services through 28 practice areas in 9 offices strategically distributed in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with representation in Spain.
