Simon Sauvé, Director of BLP in San Jose, specializes in Business Law and Free Trade Zones. He advises national and transnational companies on various daily aspects and leads regional legal teams in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations. In Free Trade Zones, he guides companies in services, commercialization, and manufacturing, establishing operations under the Free Trade Zone Regime in Costa Rica and advising on benefits and obligations. Simon has experience in expansion, transfer of operations, and incentive renewal. He joined BLP in 2011 and became a director in 2022.

  • Establishment Labs Enters Into $225 Million Credit Facility with Oaktree. BLP advised its client, Oaktree Capital Management, on all aspects of the transaction, including its closing. Oaktree is a leader among global investment managers specializing in alternative investments.
  • Joby Aviation acquires Avionyx. Joby Aviation acquires Avionyx, a Costa Rica-based aerospace software engineering company, to support its aircraft type certification program with the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). BLP advised its client, Joby Aviation, on all aspects of the transaction.
  • IDB Invest in a US$23 million loan to Grupo Desarrollador de Parques Industriales S.A in Costa Rica. BLP has advised IDB Invest on its combined long-term and medium-term loan of up to $23 million to Grupo Desarrollador de Parques Industriales S.A. to develop the Green Park Industrial Park in the Coyol area on the outskirts of Alajuela.
  • BLP advises Baxter on its spinoff of renal care Vantive. BLP assisted in obtaining operational permits and regulatory authorizations required for Vantive’s operation under special regimes in Costa Rica. Additionally, BLP provided advice on real estate, labor, intellectual property, and data privacy matters.
