Karla González, Director at BLP in San José, Costa Rica, specializes in Business Law and Real Estate & Hospitality. She has advised both national and international companies on day-to-day matters, commercial agreements, corporate governance, and real estate operations. Certified as a Legal Project Practitioner, Karla leads complex transactions and regional projects. She participates in contract reviews, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance advisory. She actively engages with Sustainability by BLP and provides pro bono services. After joining BLP in 2011, Karla was promoted to Senior Associate in 2018 before achieving director status.

  • Evertec refinances credit facilities. BLP has advised EVERTEC, Inc. in Costa Rica and Guatemala on refinancing its existing credit facilities. The new credit lines consist of $200 million of extended revolving credit and a $415 million term loan A, both maturing on December 1, 2027.
  • First acquisition of Jefferson Capital to enter the Central American territory and expand its presence in Latin America. BLP advised Jefferson in Central America, including due diligence in antitrust matters and negotiation of deal agreements.
  • Moody’s entry into Central America. BLP leads advice to Moody’s in the acquisition of SC Riesgo’s operations in Central America, involving all aspects related to the transaction. 
  • Guanacaste Development Group launches its second coastal real estate project. The client is developing a second coastal real estate project in Costa Rica, a Mixed-Use Real Estate Master Project named Costa Elena with high-end hotels, villas, and lots. For the development of the Project, BLP advised its client on the restructuring of its real estate investments (over 1,000 ha.) per a corporate reorganization, the constitution of the master condominium, and the first phase of sub-condominiums, as well as the formulation of the sales packages and contracts for the first phase.
  • Residential real estate development project to be developed in Guanacaste. The firm is legal advisor to Discovery Land Company in Costa Rica for the real estate and corporate structuring of the sustainable residential real estate development project to be developed in Guanacaste, known as Zapotal Beach and Golf Club.
