Companies will now have until September 5, 2026, to register their official email address with the National Registry.
Through Directive DPJ-001-2026, the Legal Entities Registry has extended the original deadline for companies, branches of foreign companies, and powers of attorney granted abroad to register an official email address for notification purposes. This extension is granted within the framework of Law No. 10,597, which recognizes email as a valid means of notification for legal entities.
What Does This Extension Mean?
The extension does not eliminate the legal obligation; rather, it provides additional time for compliance. Once the new deadline expires, the National Registry will not register documents related to entities that have failed to register their official email address, which could hinder important corporate and registry-related procedures.
In addition, legal and administrative notifications may be validly served through electronic means. Therefore, failing to maintain a properly registered and monitored email address increases the risk of missing communications that may have legal or administrative consequences.
Practical Recommendations
Companies are encouraged to complete this registration as soon as possible and to designate an active institutional email address that is monitored on a regular basis. It is also advisable to implement internal procedures for reviewing notifications received through this channel in order to minimize risks arising from delays, omissions, or missed deadlines.
At BLP, we are available to assist you with the registration of your companies’ official email address.
