On August 15, Costa Rica will celebrate Mother’s Day, a holiday of mandatory payment according to article 148 of the Labor Code:
  • An employer must pay for the holiday as a single day, even if an employee does not work the day.
  • An employer who requires an employee to work the day must pay double time.
These rules apply to a weekly, biweekly, or monthly salary schedule.
