Nicaragua Increases Minimum Wage for 2026–2027

On March 5, 2026, the National Minimum Wage Commission officially announced a 4% increase for most of the country’s economic sectors, with the exception of free trade zones, where a 6.7% increase was agreed upon. This adjustment sets monthly salaries in an approximate range of 6,188 to 13,848 córdobas. It is valid for one year and applies retroactively as of March 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027.

The decision was reached through a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Labor (MITRAB), union confederations, and private sector representatives. This increase benefits ten sectors of the national economy under Law No. 625, the “Minimum Wage Law.”

Compliance with the payment of these updated wages is mandatory for all employers.
