BLP has been recognized by Latin Lawyer with the ESG Initiative Award for the implementation of its Green Habitat Project, an innovative initiative that promotes everyday sustainable practices among its professionals and actively fosters biodiversity from their homes.
Launched last year and led by the Firm’s Environmental Committee, the Green Habitat Project encourages BLP lawyers and teams to adopt sustainable habits such as composting organic waste, installing bee hotels, and creating edible gardens at home. The initiative includes practical training sessions delivered with the support of volunteers, clients, and community members, and has generated strong internal engagement, with more than 80 professionals registered to participate.
As part of the program, BLP also promotes an office-based composting initiative, transforming organic waste into natural fertilizer that is distributed among employees, clients, and the broader community, reinforcing a circular economy model.
These actions complement other environmental efforts that BLP has consistently implemented. In Costa Rica, the firm actively participates in the eCoin program, which promotes recycling through an incentive-based system, and has donated 55 kilograms of plastic bottle caps to the ProParques project, which uses these materials to build accessible walkways on national beaches for people with disabilities.
As a result of this sustained commitment, BLP’s Costa Rica office has been recognized by the government with the Carbon Neutral Country Seal for 10 consecutive years and has received the Ecological Blue Flag certification on 12 occasions, reflecting sustainable practices such as the efficient use of natural light, the installation of low-consumption sanitary equipment, and the adoption of environmentally responsible cleaning products.
This Latin Lawyer recognition adds to other recent ESG milestones achieved by the Firm. In 2025, BLP was named “Central America Law Firm of the Year”, and Partner Vivian Liberman received the “Latin America: ESG Leader of the Year” award at the Women in Business Law Awards, reaffirming the Firm’s regional leadership in sustainability, governance, and responsible business practices.
Through initiatives such as the Green Habitat Project, BLP continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability and to the integration of ESG criteria as a core component of its culture, strategy, and way of doing business.
